Head of School Job Description

All Day Montessori provides a full-day Montessori based, early childhood learning experience, that is nurturing, educationally rich, and developmentally appropriate to children from the ages of 15 months and 6 years of age. All Day Montessori provides a welcoming, diverse, and peaceful learning environment, where all children are respected and loved as unique individuals.  


Essential Functions: 

  • Promote and implement the vision and the mission of the school.

  • Chief administrative officer responsible for the smooth internal operation of the school.

  • Communication with staff, families, the Board of Directors, and the community.

  • Hire, support, and manage, teaching and support staff.

  • Oversight of enrollment and coordination of fundraising.

  • Ensure the proper implementation of the Montessori philosophy.

  • Manage and coordinate the curricula with staff that aligns with the Montessori framework and complies with state and federal requirements.

  • Ensure that the center facilities are safe for children and comply with state and local laws and regulations.

  • Manage and support teaching staff and promote their professional development in the Montessori method.

  • Manage and oversee the budget and account, ensuring that the school has profitable sustainability. 

  • Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures. 

  • Develop and facilitate marketing and recruitment plan for staff and families.

 Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Early Childhood education

  • AMS or AMI Montessori teacher certification

  • Licensed Childcare Administrator or willingness to take coursework to meet the requirements

  • Teaching experience in a Montessori setting (Required)

  • Experience with providing coaching and feedback to teachers/staff

  • Leadership experience (Required)

  • Prior administrative role in a school setting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and time management skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences

  • Willingness to be flexible with hours based on the needs of the school

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor

  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times

Compensation:  Salary based on experience; comprehensive benefits package including, 401k, Health insurance partial reimbursement, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, tuition discount for children of employees. 


Reports to: All Day Montessori Board of Directors

Supervises: Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Maintenance staff, Kitchen staff

Status: Full-Time
