Alcuin Montessori School in Oak Park, IL is seeking an experienced (5+ years) and highly professional Business Manager to join their administrative team. The Business Manager is an integral part of the administrative team, collaborating closely with the Executive Director and Director of Advancement to ensure that all aspects of the school's business run smoothly and effectively. The Business Manager leads the efforts, along with the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees to ensure the fiscal health and future of the school. The Business Manager is responsible for cash flow, daily financial resources, all areas of accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, student billing, payroll, purchasing, cash management, general ledger, collections, taxes, and conducting an annual audit.
Qualifications:
• Four-year degree in business is required, master’s degree in business or licensed CPA strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting in education or non-profit • Ability to work effectively and positively with the administrative team and BOT and represent the school as a leader in the mission driven work of the community • Knowledge of all office suite programs and G-Suite
• Comprehensive understanding of the entire functioning of the school
• Experience and understanding facility management and maintenance
• Experience in budget preparations, projections, admission cycles
• Ability to collaborate, community-minded approach, flexible thinking, and a strong work ethic with personal accountability
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Leadership and experience in cultural competency
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing school environment
Duties:
Finance
• Prepare the annual budget
• Manage cash flow analysis and year-end budgeting
• Provide support to the finance committee and prepare all reports for monthly BOT meetings
• Oversee all purchasing (accounts payable, banking activities and accounts, payroll, and benefits)
• Manage the school’s tuition collection system
• Manage the schools banking relationships
• Oversee annual audit
• Manage tuition schedules and tuition rate comparisons
• Growth and forward-thinking mindset to ensure innovative financial solutions of systems and technology to ensure overall financial health of the school
Business Management
• Oversee all aspects of insurance programs (property, liability, D&O, and workers' compensation)
• Manage appropriate levels of insurance to protect personnel, students and property
Human Resources
• Responsible for all policies of hiring, termination, time off, workers' compensation, safety, and compensation
• Responsible for faculty and staff employment contracts, background checks, all onboarding paperwork
• Keeping all personnel records up to date
• Update and maintain all employee handbooks
