The Rose Hall Montessori Director will oversee the curriculum, strategic direction and enrollment for all School programs. The Director is responsible for management of the various programs and services provided by the School in a manner consistent with industry best practices. The Director will create policy, oversee daily operations and manage school staff. The Director is primarily responsible for: (i) developing and implementing a Montessori-based curriculum; (ii) ensuring compliance with state and local regulatory guidelines; and (iii) managing the administrative and business requirements for the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      Develop and implement school vision, mission & priorities.

      Develop, support, and continuously enhance quality and developmentally appropriate curricula and activities to implement the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children.

      Demonstrate professional skills in Montessori curriculum planning, in-service training, program goal setting, lesson planning and establishing procedures for evaluating the progress of individual children.

      Develop and promote a culturally competent, supportive and respectful environment in which to serve children and their families. Establish trusted relationships with the children, families, and the greater community.

      Create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate discipline.

      Operate the school and its programs in accordance with the school's developmental philosophy, the Department of Children and Family Services, state and federal agencies.

      Represent Rose Hall Montessori in professional organizations and community groups.

      Engage with the Board of Directors as outlined in the School’s Bylaws.  Implement and support policies established by the Board of Directors of the School.

      Partner with the Parent Association to facilitate community engagement, events, and

      Act as liaison with the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church to coordinate leasing contracts, space planning and maintenance of the facility.

 

Management Duties and Responsibilities:

      Manage all staff (including Teachers and Teaching Assistants) at School.

      Recruit, interview, train, and integrate new staff.

      Provide professional and personal support and provide training opportunities for staff professional development.

      Observe and assess staff performance, including annual review process.

Program Administration and Enrollment Duties:

      Manage all enrollment processes including maintaining relationships with current families and leading new student enrollment. May include hosting informational sessions, parent education and driving external marketing/PR to promote the school.

      Prepare a yearly calendar for all classes.

      Compose class lists considering classroom chemistry, teacher input and parental request.

      Coordinate with teachers to monitor children's progress and initiate referrals for additional services, if indicated. Ensure parents are informed of policies and their child's progress.

      Assess and determine the appropriate release of children to authorized individuals.

      Administer emergency first aid to the children using current First Aid techniques; stay current on medical recommendations regarding allergies, epi-pens, and other medical needs.

      Be respectful of and maintain confidentiality of children's personal and medical information.

      Report suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect to the Department of Children and Family Services and local agencies.

      Attend to and monitor local and regional health concerns that may impact the School.

School Administration:

      Attend Rose Hall Montessori Board Meetings.

      Work with the School Business Manager and Board Finance Committee to write the annual budget, keep track of expenses, file yearly tax documents, and contribute paperwork for yearly audit.

      Ensure maintenance of the physical environment including indoor and outdoor spaces to conform to licensing requirements.

      Maintain all personnel files with necessary forms for the Department of Children and Family Services and current health and medical certificates.

      Maintain all children's files with necessary forms for the Department of Children and Family Services.

      Maintain attendance records of all personnel and submit records for staff payroll.

      Coordinate the purchase and maintain the inventory of supplies and equipment.

Additional Duties:

      Attend conferences/seminars in accordance with the Department of Children and Family Services requirements of 20 hours of in-service training.

      Attend annual First Aid/CPR recertification classes.

      Attend IEP meetings for integration of special needs children.

Job Qualification Requirements:

      Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree in education is preferred.

      Experience in a DCFS-Licensed program required.

      Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential is preferred.

      AMI or AMS accredited Primary (3-6 year old) Teaching Certificate preferred.

      Strong leadership and communication skills necessary for leading a community of students, teachers and parents.

      Administrative and new student enrollment experience required.

      3-6 year old education experience preferred.

Pay: $65,000- $80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Job Type: Full-time; Monday to Friday (with occasional evening or weekend events)

Work Remotely: Not during the school year (September - June), but summer months are flexible for work location and hours.
