Virtual Policy Workshop 2 - Creating a Pathway for Montessori Teachers & State Teaching Licenses

AIMS is excited to announce that we are partnering with a parent community in Chicago Public Schools to push forward legislation for a pathway for Montessori teachers to obtain state teaching licenses. Celebrate Public Montessori is organizing a virtual policy workshop in collaboration with AIMS and MPPI, and you and your staff and families are invited to join in. Please feel free to pass this message on to staff and families. We will also record this presentation and share with you to send out as well.

An Illinois pathway to state teacher licensure for Montessori credentialed teachers is of great importance to our public Montessori programs as it will enable them to hire Montessori prepared teachers directly to lead classrooms, instead of hiring non-Montessori state licensed teachers and having to spend the time and monetary investment for them to complete Montessori teacher preparation while also attempting to lead a Montessori classroom.

In addition, an Illinois pathway will be a help to private Montessori schools in the way that Montessori credentials will need to be recognized by both DCFS and Gateways at a higher level once this legislation is in place. Everyone in our AIMS community will benefit!

We are thrilled to invite you to these collaborative Montessori Virtual Policy Workshops. Join public and private Montessori families and staff across the city and state and learn about this policy issue that place limitations on Montessori schools and add your voice to Chicago's public Montessori community advocacy for change!

This will be an hour long Zoom meeting. It will be held on Saturday, November 11th @ 10am AND Friday, November 17th @ 1pm. The workshop will also be recorded and shared with those who register.
