    DESCRIPTION

    Chiaravalle Montessori is looking for qualified, professional and compassionate School Psychologist to join our dynamic Learning Resources team for the 2020-2021 school year.

    This person will provide support to the social and emotional development of all students (K-8). The School Psychologist position is a full time opportunity, Monday - Friday, 30 hours per week.

    THE POSITION

    The School Psychologist works as an advisory to the Educational Director, Head of School and faculty. You will work in collaboration with the Learning Resources team to provide all students with socio-emotional support through a variety of methods, such as topic specific groups, whole class instruction, and providing specific intervention as needed.

    You assist in identifying children with behavioral, emotional and social difficulties at the request of teachers, parents, the Educational Director and the Head of School. The School Psychologist supports children with identified psychological needs to include "drop in" support for those who are having difficulties in the classroom. You will assist parents through the process of identifying children's needs, communicating Learning Resources' procedures, and providing appropriate referrals and recommendations for support.

    Additionally, you assist in the transition of identified children at Chiaravalle to a new school if needed, including observing potential alternative environment.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Experience

    The ideal candidate has a Master's degree in School Psychology, State Certification in School Psychology (Board or National Certification preferable) and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a school setting. Montessori experience is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication, organization skills are preferred. This person must be adaptable to different situations, communication and social styles. Patience, the ability to stay calm and maintain respectful and peaceful communication with children and adults is also essential.

    Other Requirements

    Physical requirements include full ability to see, walk, hear and talk as well as lift and carry up to 15 lbs. regularly, up to 40-50 lbs in the case of lifting or carrying a child in an emergency situation, and pushing/pulling/reaching to maintain files, supplies and equipment.

    2 to 3 Year-Old (Toddler) Lead Teacher position available immediately, for a part time teaching position, for the academic school year and possibly summer camp.

    Our school is a fully equipped traditional Montessori, with 2 to 6 year old programs, with multi-age classrooms, with the addition to teaching Spanish through music and movement in each program.

    We are located within a beautiful wooded park of 52 acres, located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. This AMS Accredited School offers half-day programs for 2 to 6 year olds, as well as summer camp. We do have a few students ages 4 and older attending full day.

    Established in 2000, Children’s Montessori Language Academy has provided an enriching, loving, and supportive academic experience for our staff, students, and their families for the last 20 years. 

    We are a small school, with a staff of ten Montessorians and child advocates.     Job Description

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    • Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum. Update curriculum as student needs dictate.
    • Establish and maintain a classroom true to the Montessori philosophy, ensure that all materials are in good repair and all sets complete. Develop and create materials when needed. 
    • Establish a harmonious relationship with other teachers. Support them in every way possible. Provide necessary instruction and training. 
    • Maintain a collaborative environment with other teachers and coordinators to handle curriculum integration and implementation 
    • Give appropriate presentations and establish a record keeping system to track the children’s progress. 
    • Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating conflict resolution and Grace and Courtesy lessons. 
    • Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents. Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in Montessori philosophy. 
    • Comply with all continuing education requirements. 
    • Always adheres to confidentiality. 
    • Enthusiastically supports and enforces school policies and regulations.

    Facility/classroom: 

    • Assure all areas of the facility are well kept, clean, and organized at all times.

    Family owned Montessori school on the north side of Chicago is looking for a full time Primary (3 years - 6 years) certified Montessori teacher to start by the end of September. The ideal work schedule would be from 7 am – 3 pm Monday to Friday. We offer 6 paid holidays and accrued paid time off.

    We are looking for a teacher who is dedicated to the care and educational needs of children, has excellent interpersonal skills and can effectively collaborate with students, parents and staff. Previous experience as a Primary Montessori Directress is preferred.
